The transition from school to work can be stressful and confusing for many young people. Our Mentor Boost program provides hands-on experiential learning opportunities at partner companies for early career exposure as well as training in the soft skills needed in professional life.
Positive mentoring relationships allow young people to explore various career options, develop their skills, and stay engaged in academics as they prepare for their futures. Mentor Boost volunteer their time to deliver 3-5 sessions at a high school (or equivalent), providing information about the professional world and the tools on how to access it. The program ends with a student-led project grounded in learnings from the program.
The Mentor Boost program provides students with an understanding of life at a workplace to:
- Inspire them to think differently about education and future careers.
- Empower them to make informed decisions.
- Motivate them to reflect on their interests, strengths, and hopes.
One of the best things was hearing about all the directions I can take to reach my dream.
