Sara Revell Ford will become the new Secretary General of Mentor International and Mentor Sweden as of August 9, 2019. Sara Revell Ford is currently employed as National Director of the Swedish Red Cross.
Today is #GivingTuesday, a global giving movement built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and communities around the world to encourage people to come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
Last month, Mentor Sweden took over Stockholm’s Central Station and transformed the main hall into a “Mentor Day” for adults and teenagers to meet. It was a full day packed with competitions, choir and dance performances, interviews with astronauts, panel discussions with business leaders and “micro-mentoring.”
Thoughts of the future can be overwhelming for adolescents and young people; they can cause anxiety and depression. It is so important for teenagers to have someone who will listen and to whom they can talk.
Mentor International’s Chair, Yvonne Thunell, recently attended a summit on the global proliferation of narcotics at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. This summit, “Narcotics: Problems and Solutions of This Global Issue,” was requested by Pope Francis to bring together the leading international scientists and practitioners to highlight the global drug epidemic. In this interview, Thunell talks about Mentor’s involvement at the summit, the topics discussed, and the most shocking thing she learned.
Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November, Mentor International and its founder Her Majesty The Queen of Sweden visited the Vatican to take part in the seminar Narcotics: Problems and Solutions of this Global Issue conference.
